Even though the Wade Hampton Generals scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Mauldin Mavericks still came out on top. Mauldin blew past Wade Hampton 92-56 at home. That's another feather in the cap for Mauldin, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mauldin was led to victory by Nathan Wilbourne and Alverez Smith. Wilbourne scored 11 points along with 6 assists, while Smith scored 11 points. Smith hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Sullivan, who scored 9 points along with 5 rebounds.
The victory got Mauldin back to even at 3-3. As for Wade Hampton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Mauldin will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Mauldin likes a good challenge. As for Wade Hampton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Powdersville at 8:00 p.m. Powdersville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wade Hampton in South Carolina (Powdersville is ranked 39th, while Wade Hampton is ranked 197th).
