James River took the contest and then some with a 54-7 win on Friday over Alleghany. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for James River, who can brag about three blowout wins.
James River's offense rushed out of the gates and came up with 47 first-half points. Alleghany wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 47-7 heading into the break. The James River defense stood its ground in the third quarter, giving up 0 and all but finishing the matchup. The victory bumped James River's record up to 6-1. Alleghany are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-7.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Next week James River take on Radford at 7:00 PM. Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown. As for Alleghany, they will face off against Carroll County.
