Neuqua Valley (Naperville, Ill.) 26-21 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured two lead swaps.
The teams went into the locker room at halftime deadlocked at 14. The Caravan took the lead for good on a touchdown pass by Butkus to Gasser in the fourth quarter.
Mount Carmel's most effective player was Gasser. The senior wide receiver threw one touchdown and caught two touchdowns.
Dylan Andrew made a difference for the Wildcats. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The loss comes after Neuqua Valley defeated Waubonsie Valley 23-20 last week.
Neuqua Valley (12-1) faces off against Mount Carmel in a playoff game its next time out. The Caravan go into the week with a record of 11-1.
