Softball Recap: North Raleigh Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Cary Academy

North Raleigh Christian Academy won the last time they faced Cary Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights blew past the Chargers 18-8. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Gardner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cora Harmsen and Presley Harrison did most of the damage at the plate: Harmsen got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Harrison went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Harrison a new career-high. Mallory Jacobs also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

North Raleigh Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for North Raleigh Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Cary Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Raleigh Christian Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against GRACE Christian at 4:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Cary Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Franklin Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
