The Great Falls Red Devils will take on the Richland Northeast Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Great Falls saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over Columbia. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Jayden Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trenton Trotter, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kamden Wood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Great Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Richland Northeast had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Crestwood. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Like Great Falls, Richland Northeast also got a great game from a two-way player: Kendrick Phillips. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Phillips was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaiah Small was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Cam Simon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Great Falls now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Richland Northeast, their record now sits at 1-0.
Great Falls might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Richland Northeast in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Great Falls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
