The Hastings Tigers fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 21-14 win over Gering on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Hastings, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Hastings' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kooper Kohl led the charge by rushing for 62 yards and a touchdown, while also catching a touchdown. Hastings also got help from Keithen Krings who showed off his sure hands for 117 receiving yards.
Even if they lost, Gering's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Hayden Bennett and his two sacks.
Hastings' victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Gering, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 2-7 record this season.
Hastings does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gering is also done with their season.
