Softball Recap: Kings Park Starts Season with Win on the Road

Kings Park had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Hampton Bays Baymen. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Kingsmen also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jordana Greeney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. Greeney was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Courtney McKenna was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Emily Hofmayer, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Kings Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .651. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton Bays only posted an OBP of .471.

Hampton Bays' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Hampton Bays will welcome Shoreham-Wading River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kings Park will be paying especially close attention to Hampton Bays' matchup: after Hampton Bays faces off against Miller Place, they'll take on Kings Park again at 4:30 p.m. on the 15th.
