On Friday Stayton take on Astoria at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close contest.
Last Thursday, Stayton couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. Stayton didn't finish too far behind, but the squad still lost 6-12 to North Marion.
Meanwhile, Astoria had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 0-27 punch to the gut against Scappoose.
The losses dropped both teams to 0-1. Neither squad could put together much of an offensive attack, so expect every point to count.
