The Resurrection Christian Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took down Mountain View 34-19. Resurrection Christian pushed the score to 27-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Mountain View cut but never quite recovered from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Resurrection Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hunter Hansen, who rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Hansen was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Grant Applebee, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Trent Lawson and Bergen Roth, Mountain View certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Lawson picked up 77 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Roth threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Resurrection Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points per game. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Resurrection Christian will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Mountain View, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Severance at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Severance is ranked 108th, while Mountain View is ranked 103rd).
