Baseball Recap: Sauk Centre Sets Scoring Season-High Against B O L D

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sauk Centre). They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the B O L D Warriors on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Mainstreeters: when they faced off against the Warriors back in April, they had to take a 12-2 loss.

Evan Zales was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Warring, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sauk Centre kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.

Sauk Centre's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for B O L D, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Sauk Centre and B O L D could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Mainstreeters will square off against Montevideo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (245 vs. 12). Meanwhile, B O L D (ranked 223rd) will meet New Ulm Cathedral (ranked 53rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
