It was a good run, but the Huntington Red Devils unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 54-42 to Cornerstone Christian.
Cornerstone Christian found their leader in underclassman Yasmeen Schmidt, who scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds. The contest was Schmidt's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Adah Snead, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Huntington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Cornerstone Christian, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.
Huntington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Woodville at 5:00 p.m. on December 5th. Woodville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 881st, while Huntington is ranked 171st). As for Cornerstone Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Pieper at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Pieper focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
