Baseball Recap: Sylva Bay Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Laurel HomeSchool last Saturday, Sylva Bay Academy came back down to earth. Sylva Bay Academy fell 11-6 to Prentiss Christian on Tuesday. Sylva Bay Academy hasn't had much luck with Prentiss Christian recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Parker Webb was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Sylva Bay Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Levi West made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Sylva Bay Academy: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Miller, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sylva Bay Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Prentiss Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

While Sylva Bay Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
