After a string of six wins, McCallum's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Anderson Trojans. If the Knights were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Trojans when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
McCallum started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18.
Kafia Jackson-Woods paced McCallum's offense, picking up seven kills. Jackson-Woods got some help from Lexi Rosenblatt and her 20 assists. Piper Adair controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.
McCallum's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 20-9. As for Anderson, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-10.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McCallum is set to challenge their familiar foe Cedar Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Anderson will face off against rival Bastrop at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
