4A Region II District 14 recap Oct. 30, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Pine Tree, who took down 448th ranked Pine Tree, 49-29. Kameron Hudson in the win.
Sulphur Springs's Willy Ivery rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A Region II District 14 this season in his game against Hallsville last week. Ivery's team bested the Bobcats as he sprinted for 85 yards on the play and finished with 150 in all.
The Pirates' dynamic duo of Caleb Chumley and Victor Hawkins proved tough for Marshall to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Chumley threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns and Hawkins had 156 yards receiving. Mason Hayes helped Pine Tree's passing attack out by catching four balls for 78 yards.
Sulphur Springs' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brad Macek has thrown for 1707 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Cole Hill has 62 catches for 815 yards. Buddy Ivery leads the league in rushing with 1123 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mt. Pleasant takes on Hallsville. The Tigers are currently in second, while David Plunk's team is in third.
There should be lots of points scored when Sulphur Springs and Pine Tree face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Greg Owens' team comes in having scored 350 this season, while Derek Fitzhenry's team has scored 142. The Wildcats scored 38 points last week as they defeated the Bobcats.
Sulphur Springs extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region II District 14 this week by beating Hallsville, 38-31. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Wildcats.
