The Burley Bobcats will square off against the Caldwell Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Burley has five straight victories, Caldwell has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Burley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Century on Friday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over the Diamondbacks. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jake Redder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Redder was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Jackson Funk was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Thornton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Burley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Friday. Caldwell lost 21-3 to South Fremont.
Connor Fullerton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Burley's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Caldwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Caldwell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Burley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Caldwell, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain Burley's hitters?
Everything went Burley's way against Caldwell when the teams last played back in March of 2016, as Burley made off with a 6-0 victory. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
