The Roma Gladiators will head out on the road to face off against the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roma is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Roma lost to Rio Grande City at home by a decisive 57-43 margin. Roma has struggled against Rio Grande City recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Juarez-Lincoln's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Nixon, falling 90-37. While losing is never fun, Juarez-Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1513th, while Nixon is ranked 285th).
Roma has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season. As for Juarez-Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-31.
Roma strolled past Juarez-Lincoln when the teams last played back in January by a score of 56-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Roma since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
