Basketball Game Preview: Mesrobian Bulldogs vs. Crescenta Valley Falcons

The Mesrobian Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Crescenta Valley Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mesrobian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Mesrobian beat San Gabriel 51-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Nicholas Khatchikian continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 15 for 23 on his way to 32 points in addition to eight boards and four blocks. The contest was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aren Rupchian, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 8 points.

Meanwhile, Crescenta Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They strolled past the Barristers with points to spare, taking the game 70-55.

Mesrobian better keep an eye on Vaughn Zargarian. He was instrumental in Crescenta Valley's win, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Zargarian has scored at least a third of Crescenta Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Sahagian, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points.

Mesrobian's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.5 points per game. As for Crescenta Valley, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Mesrobian has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 28.9 rebounds per game.
