With a playoff game on the line, the Troy Trojans rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Line Mountain 44-0 at home. Troy's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Troy was led to victory by Evan Woodward and Clayton Smith. Woodward threw for 119 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Smith rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. Mason Smith also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Troy has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-8 Wellsboro and 3-9 Northwest Area (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 42.4% over those games). As for Line Mountain, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Troy will be playing in front of their home fans against Southern Columbia Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southern Columbia Area is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Line Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
