McCurdy had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-9 to make it 11. They came up short against the St. Michael's Horsemen, falling 18-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Horsemen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Tuesday.
As for St. Michael's, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.
For St. Michael's part, Erianna Sisneros and Nadia Cedillo were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Sisneros pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Cedillo pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sisneros went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Cedillo went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those seven RBI gave Cedillo a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jaslene Ramirez and Mariella Ruiz did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Ruiz got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Ramirez has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Karolina Ruiz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Coming up, McCurdy will square off against Mora at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Bobcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for St. Michael's, they will face off against East Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
