Illini Bluffs proved they can win big  on Friday (they won by eight) and  on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  2-1  win over the Tremont Turks. The  victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on eight straight.
Illini Bluffs got a great performance from  Colton Burdette as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave  Burdette a new career-high in  strikeouts (two).
 On the hitting side, Illini Bluffs' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Toby Cooper, who  went 1-for-4 with one  run.
Illini Bluffs' victory was  their ninth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 16-5. Those  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Tremont, they moved to 25-5 with that  defeat, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Illini Bluffs will host Canton  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Tremont, they will square off against Pekin at 4:15  p.m.  on Thursday.
