If the Litchfield Purple Panthers were riding high off their 63-32 takedown of the Hillsboro Hiltoppers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Litchfield fell 74-63 to Civic Memorial on Tuesday. Litchfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Civic Memorial apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.
Despite the loss, Litchfield still got an impressive performance from Victor Mcgill, who scored 23 points along with seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aj Odle, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Adam Ogden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Civic Memorial, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ogden has scored all season. Another player making a difference was August Frankford, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Litchfield's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Civic Memorial, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-12.
Litchfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Roxana at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Roxana focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. Civic Memorial will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Marquette Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Marquette Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
