The Flanagan/Woodland Falcons lost against the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Flanagan/Woodland fell 65-52 to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. Flanagan/Woodland has struggled against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley recently, as their game on Monday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Palaschak, who scored 17 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Derossett, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Flanagan/Woodland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan/Woodland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cornerstone Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Cornerstone Christian is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on the road again on Thursday and play against Fieldcrest at 12:00 p.m. on February 1st. Fieldcrest is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
