The Orland Trojans struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Las Plumas Thunderbirds had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Orland took a hard 66-50 fall against Las Plumas. Orland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Orland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Preston Carlson, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Zach Story who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Story hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Khalil Coley, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Las Plumas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Laster out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Laster scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of T.J. Thompson, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds.
Orland has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Las Plumas, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Orland will head out on the road to face off against Oroville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oroville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Las Plumas, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Corning at 7:30 p.m. Corning is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
