The Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials will venture away from home to challenge the Pennridge Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Pennridge will be up against a hot Plymouth Whitemarsh team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Colonials claimed a resounding 42-15 victory over William Tennent. The Colonials pushed the score to 35-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.
Plymouth Whitemarsh's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Giangiulio, who rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards. Giangiulio's longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another rusher making a difference was Michael Bongard, who rushed for 59 yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Plymouth Whitemarsh was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 332 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Plymouth Whitemarsh's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Amir Butler was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Pennridge made easy work of Central Bucks South on Friday and carried off a 28-7 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Titans are ranked 90th).
Plymouth Whitemarsh better keep an eye on William Dougherty. He was instrumental in Pennridge's win, rushing for 80 yards and one touchdown, while also catching one TD.
Plymouth Whitemarsh's record is now 7-3. As for Pennridge, their record now sits at 9-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Plymouth Whitemarsh has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 290.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pennridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 189.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
