The Penns Grove Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Woodstown Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, it was close, but Penns Grove sidestepped Florence Township Memorial for a 6-3 victory.
Penns Grove can attribute much of their success to Bryce Wright, who rushed for 113 yards, and Karon Ceaser, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Woodstown can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Dunellen at home to the tune of 42-6. Given Woodstown's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Dunellen is ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Bryce Belinfanti, who rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Belinfanti's longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Webb, who threw for 24 yards and a touchdown on only two passes.
Penns Grove is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Woodstown, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Penns Grove has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 209.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Woodstown struggles in that department as they've been even better at 228.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Penns Grove ended up a good deal behind Woodstown in their previous matchup two weeks ago, losing 21-6. Can Penns Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
