The Morse Tigers will take on the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Morse comes in on five and Mission Bay on four.
On Wednesday, Morse made easy work of Crawford and carried off a 15-1 victory. Considering the Tigers have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Reylyn Sakamoto made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beyah Salvador, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Salvador, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Morse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Mission Bay earned a 4-1 win over Coronado on Wednesday.
Abby Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, Sage Weiss was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Indy Beesley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Morse's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Mission Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Both Morse and Mission Bay just can't seem to miss. The Tigers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Mission Bay struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
