Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only River Falls walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 win over the Oshkosh North Spartans on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joseph Tarasewicz, who rushed for 213 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 105 receiving yards and one score. Tarasewicz really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 88 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Tino Massa, who threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: River Falls was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
River Falls' defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Sam Simpson was especially locked on to Oshkosh North's QB and sacked him twice. Simpson also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.
River Falls' victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Oshkosh North, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Coming up, River Falls will face off against Notre Dame Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Tritons have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests. Oshkosh North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
