The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Axtell Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wilcox-Hildreth is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Wilcox-Hildreth suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 57-30 defeat at the hands of Ansley/Litchfield. Wilcox-Hildreth was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-15.
Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth got a solid performance out of Dagan Ortgiesen, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Sam Gruwell, who scored six points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Axtell strolled past Arapahoe with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 62-47.
Wilcox-Hildreth bumped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Axtell, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-5.
Wilcox-Hildreth took a serious blow against Axtell in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 64-33. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilcox-Hildreth was down 39-19.
