The Water Valley Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Sonora 39-35. Water Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Sonora apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 2nd.
It was another big night for Jezabel Pasillas, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and five rebounds for Sonora. The team also got some help courtesy of Ravyn Aguero, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Water Valley dropped their record down to 17-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.1 points per game. As for Sonora, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Water Valley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sterling City at 6:15 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Sonora, they will face off against Forsan at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
