Softball Recap: Ennis Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Tuesday. Ennis were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Kaufman. Ennis might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Breona Benavidez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had over her last nine games. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ennis got a massive performance out of Analisa Salazar, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Meranda Chandler was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Ennis' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 7.86 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.56 in the others. As for Kaufman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5-2 record this season.

Ennis will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Crandall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kaufman, they will be playing at home against Midlothian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
