Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Northwest Christian

Northwest Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They rang in the new year with a 49-42 win over the Crosspoint Christian Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Northwest Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Vahey, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Vahey is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Dan Babber was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.

Northwest Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Crosspoint Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwest Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Quilcene at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crosspoint Christian, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Crosspoint Christian Wildcats face off against the Northwest Yeshiva Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Yeshiva is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.9 points per game this season.
