The Ayersville Pilots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Antwerp Archers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ayersville will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Ayersville stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Fort Jennings 55-29. With Ayersville ahead 37-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Ayersville had a senior duo take command as Ally Schindler scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Kiersten Manon scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Manon pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lanie Sheets, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, Antwerp came up short against the Blackbirds on Tuesday and fell 48-40. That's two games in a row now that Antwerp has lost by exactly eight points.
Ayersville's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Antwerp, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Ayersville against the Archers in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 52-24 victory. Does Ayersville have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Archers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
