Lake Placid is 1-6 against Crown Point since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bombers will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lake Placid was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Johnsburg Central, sneaking past 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.
Meanwhile, Crown Point strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Boquet Valley with a sharp 18-2 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 15 runs or more this season.
Kaitlin Ross made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
In other batting news, Makenna Munson was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Addison Hurlburt was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Crown Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Crown Point's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Placid, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-6.
Lake Placid might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Crown Point in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can the Bombers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
