Riverside is 0-3 against Hurricane since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Riverside Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Hurricane Redskins at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Riverside's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They claimed a resounding 48-6 win over South Charleston on the road.
Meanwhile, Hurricane had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They skirted past Cabell Midland 31-28.
Hurricane can attribute much of their success to Jacqai Long, who threw for 320 yards on 25 of 37 attempts, and Noah Vellaithambi, who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Tyshawn Dues did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 147 receiving yards.
Their wins bumped Riverside to 2-5 and Hurricane to 6-1.
Riverside was taken down by Hurricane 44-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Riverside avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
