The White Oak Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of West Carteret by a score of 55-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for White Oak in their matchups with West Carteret: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the loss, White Oak still got an impressive performance from Denniyah Tanner, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tanner has scored all season. Kylie Stephens was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, White Oak were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Skyler Setzer was on fire for West Carteret: she scored 24 points along with nine steals. Setzer continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Huber, who scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
White Oak bumped their record down to 1-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for West Carteret, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
White Oak will look to defend their home court on Monday against Jacksonville at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Jacksonville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. West Carteret on the road again on Friday and play against Swansboro at 6:15 p.m. on January 19th.
