Churchill is 8-2 against Clark since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Churchill has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Clark will come in with four straight wins.
On Friday, Churchill came up short against Madison and fell 24-16. While the Chargers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Mavericks 13-3.
Despite the defeat, Churchill had strong showings from Jayden Watkins, who gained 97 total yards and a touchdown, and Kalobe Rond, who rushed for 77 yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, while Clark put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for LEE. The Cougars took their game with ease, bagging a 42-0 victory over the Volunteers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Volunteers are ranked 911th).
Churchill better keep an eye on Isaiah Santillan. He was instrumental in Clark's win, throwing for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Santillan a new career-high in passer rating (161.9).
Clark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eli Abad, Carlos Camarillo, and Dom Moore picked up one apiece. Moore has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Churchill's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Clark, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Churchill strolled past Clark in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 38-19. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
