Baseball Recap: Blacksburg Extends Winning Streak to Three

Blacksburg waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal 13-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-2 on Tuesday.

Neal Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blacksburg is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-14 otherwise. Thompson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dayvon Garrison was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jerrett Alexander also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Blacksburg's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

Coming up, Blacksburg will take on Greenville H at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty on Tuesday.
