On Thursday, Oskaloosa made easy work of Horton and carried off a 19-8 victory. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Oskaloosa let Lydia Turner and Parris Marsh run wild. Turner scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Marsh scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brynn King, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Jackson Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Riverside [Wathena/Elwood], falling 20-7. One positive for the Cobras, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Taylor Bosley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Makinley Mulroy was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, Jackson Heights was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
