Nelson is 0-4 against Barlow since April of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. Nelson will take on Barlow at 6:30 p.m. Nelson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Nelson took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Gresham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Nelson had just enough and edged out Gresham 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Nelson has posted since April 9th.

Abigail Huspek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia Pietsch, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Nelson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Barlow entered their tilt with Sandy on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Pioneers get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The game was the first time the Bruins have beaten the Pioneers on their field since April 15, 2019.
Not much got past Kaylee Pokorny 2025, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Sandy off the board. Pokorny 2025 has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Peyton Trickel 2025 and Charliann Renner 2025 did most of the damage at the plate: Trickel 2025 went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Renner 2025 went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Lyla Ostrowski 2026 also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Nelson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Barlow, their record now sits at 11-5.
Nelson might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Barlow when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Nelson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
