Scott hasn't had much luck against Bracken County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Polar Bears at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Scott's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
Scott's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Newport Central Catholic as they made off with a 10-0 victory.
The result came thanks to Eli Wilson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Gribble, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Emory Sullivan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Scott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Campbell County hit Bracken County with a 12-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Polar Bears came up short against the Camels, falling 17-2. The Polar Bears have struggled against the Camels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Bracken County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Colvin, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Colvin has hit this season.
Scott is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-17 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bracken County, their loss dropped their record down to 13-21-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Bracken County struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scott suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Bracken County in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
