Mount Vernon is 0-3 against North Rockland since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mount Vernon Knights will head out on the road to face off against the North Rockland Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Mount Vernon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while North Rockland is ranked 137th).
Mount Vernon fell victim to Scarsdale's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 2-0. Mount Vernon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, North Rockland came up short against Carmel on Friday and fell 14-6.
The losses dropped Mount Vernon to 2-5 and North Rockland to 5-3.
Mount Vernon was dealt a bruising 34-0 defeat at the hands of North Rockland in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for Mount Vernon, Tyler Italiano (who rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 47 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
