The Osmond/Randolph Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osmond/Randolph is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 14-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Even though Winside scored an imposing 55 points on Monday, Osmond/Randolph still came out on top. Osmond/Randolph managed a 59-55 win over the Wildcats.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Osmond/Randolph to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xander Brown, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Buchanan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Hartington-Newcastle beat the Indians 52-45 on Thursday. Hartington-Newcastle pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Indians cut but never quite recovered from.
Hartington-Newcastle found their leader in underclassman Brayden Lammers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Lammers scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Dayton Sudbeck, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Osmond/Randolph's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Hartington-Newcastle, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Osmond/Randolph have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hartington-Newcastle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Osmond/Randolph and the Wildcats were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but the Hawks came up empty-handed after a 36-35 defeat. Can Osmond/Randolph avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
