Tri-Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Jonathan Esqueda of Carpinteria ran for the longest rushing play in Tri-Valley this season against Santa Clara last week. Esqueda's team defeated the Saints as he sprinted for 71 yards on the play and finished with 78 in all.
Nordhoff extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Thousand Oaks, 29-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Nordhoff's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tanner Workman threw for 136 and two touchdowns and Eric Lara had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Tayler Livingston chipped in 186 yards. Brad Sloan helped Nordhoff's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Duncan Gordan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Carpinteria bested Santa Clara. The 6-foot-1 junior grabbed 4.5 sacks.
Nordhoff's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rangers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Workman has thrown for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Lara has 20 catches for 376 yards. Livingston leads the league in rushing with 593 yards.
Tony Henney's team moved up to 86 from 164 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Tri-Valley. The Rangers climbed the ranks as a result of a 29-21 win over the Lancers.
