The Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts Eagles will head out to challenge the South Pittsburg Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
On Thursday, Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts made easy work of Tyner Academy and carried off a 12-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaxon Dang was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Dang was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Owens, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Ace Edgemon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Pittsburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Whitwell on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kayden Kilgore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Pittsburg is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise.
At the plate, South Pittsburg's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Phillips, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. Another was Jace Stone, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for South Pittsburg, their record is now 6-12.
South Pittsburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386.
