Liberty has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Xavier Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Liberty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Liberty lost to Cedar Falls at home by a decisive 67-52 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with Cedar Falls: they've now lost six in a row.
Liberty's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trey Hughes, who scored 20 points along with two steals, and Gage Kampman who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Schramm, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Xavier suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 72-46 walloping at the hands of Cedar Falls.
Liberty has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Liberty couldn't quite finish off Xavier in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 and fell 49-47. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
