Even though the West Valley Eagles have not done well against the Foothill Cougars recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. West Valley came out on top against Foothill by a score of 65-53. The win was nothing new for West Valley as they're now sitting on three straight.
Leading West Valley to victory were Chase Kalnins and Jordan Heacock. Kalnins scored 25 points along with two steals, while Heacock scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Kalnins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaze Collins, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Tyler Zanhiser and Cade Memeo certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Zanhiser scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, while Memeo scored 12 points along with six steals. Caleb Belair was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
West Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Foothill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.
West Valley will take on University Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Averaging 61.9 so far this season, University Prep's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so West Valley better be ready for a challenge. As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to challenge Chico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chico has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
