Bryan extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 6-20. They came up short against the Burke Bulldogs, falling 19-1. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Bryan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Westin Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Turner Marlowe was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Burke, they pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.
On Burke's side, Sean Leiviska made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Leiviska has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Kyle Tipler looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025.
Back at the plate, Jaden Eskra was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Williams, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bryan is set to face off against their familiar foe Auburn at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Burke will take on rival Bennington at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
