The Scotland Fighting Scots had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoke County on Thursday. Scotland lost against Hoke County in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-38 score last time.
Jaquez Caldwell and Dylan Lampley certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Caldwell scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds, while Lampley scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tashad Russell, who scored 4 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Scotland's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hoke County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Scotland will head out on the road to face off against Douglas Byrd at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Douglas Byrd comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Hoke County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Red Springs at 7:30 p.m. Red Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Hoke County is ranked 181st).
