Murray won the last time they faced Cottonwood and things went their way on Thursday too. The Spartans put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 21-3 win. The matchup marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season.
Zaylee Winterhalder made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Winterhalder was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Maddie Bigelow was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Murray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cottonwood only posted an OBP of .400.
Murray now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Cottonwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
