The Saranac Lake Red Storm lost against the Moriah Vikings back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Saranac Lake fell to the Vikings 56-52. While losing is never fun, Saranac Lake can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Vikings are ranked 64th).
Despite the loss, Saranac Lake still got an impressive performance from Caleb Akey, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That was a full 38.5% of Saranac Lake's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Melvin Cirikovic, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Cooper Allen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Moriah, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Pelkey, who scored 14 points along with five assists.
Saranac Lake's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Moriah, their victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saranac Lake will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Moriah, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m.
